There isn't much to comment on here. I don't think we could've been more minimalist - but to good effect, I feel.
</p>
      <p>
Seven easels is a group of photographers who live in the town. Ngaio and I are members, so it was natural that we
took on the responsibility for designing and building the website.
</p>
      <p>
The main purpose of the website was to support the opening exhibition, an event tied in with Axbridge's
"Somerset Showcase" celebration. Work by eight artists was on display, each with works in one of three
different venues within the town, starting right next to the town square and continuing west up High Street.
</p>
      <p>

We needed to provide both venue-oriented information (location plus line-up) and
artist-oriented information (name, images, optional text)

</p>
      <p> <img src="02.jpg" height="205" width="460" style="float:right;" class="imgright" alt="Untitled image" />

An example venue page showing an image of the venue, the times and a map giving the location.

      </p>
      <p>

We also wanted to keep the site as clean as possible, even to the extent of being over-minimalist.
</p>
      <p>
Apart from the venue pages, the website was all about the Seven Easels artists' images. We felt than any
embellishments we made would only serve to distract from the image presentation.
</p>
      <p> <img src="03.jpg" height="245" width="450" style="float:left;" class="imgleft" alt="Untitled image" />And an example artist's page.</p>
      <p>
    Each individual artist's page of images has a separate CSS file, allowing
    centrally-controlled, identically structured pages to be styled and presented distinctively and differently.
    </p>
      <p>
    In the end, nobody was that bothered about distinctively styling their page but it was
    satisfying to be able to make the offer. Small features such as this may make
    a difference to people's perceptions of ownership of content.
    </p>
